Positive Time

Fri Oct 9, 2009, 8:35 AM
So i'm in a good mood today, lol despite being caught up in the financial fallout for paying for an expensive college, I feel pretty blessed. and yeah sometimes i get down on myself, but today I just wanted to focus on positive fun things that have been entertaining me of late. As artists we spend a ton of time critiquing everything, life, art, politics, etc. and justifiably so. but sometimes it's just as good to dwell in the positive.

so here's my list of positive stuff.

movies

Jennifer's Body- an extremely well done film. think buffy meets juno and you pretty much nailed it. (lol, considering it's written by the same talented lady who wrote juno, Diablo Cody) Yeah I know everybody hates Megan Fox now, but she did a decent job as the evil cheerleader who kills horny boys. and kudos for making a horror movie where only dumb guys get killed instead of girls.

Whip It- another super awesome film. watch it. is it the greatest movie in the world? maybe not, but does it show a positive female lead that contrasts the over saturation of the twilight, gossip girl filled fictional media? then, yes.

Zombie Land- watch it. you'll love it. it's a movie in the vein of the new star trek. there's just not much to complain about.

TV SHOWS

Fringe- why aren't you watching this? lol. imagine the x-files if everything was connected by a slowly building mega-plot. it's the best dick you around show i've ever seen.

The Vampire Chronicles- lol it totally contrasts what i said about whip it and jennifer's body, but it makes me laugh. :D it's cheesy good, not "good" good.

The Cleveland Show/Family Guy/ American Dad- a trilogy of shows that's pretty much the same joke but if that joke makes you laugh then you'll love it.

COMICS

Batman and Robin- i can;t speak highly enough of Grant Morrisson's and Frank Quitely's awesome series of Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne as the new dynamic duo. it's how modern mainstream comics should be done. and will sit well next to All Star Superman on my shelf.

Invincible- always good. the best of shonen and superhero storytelling mashed together. and epically drawn by Ryan Ottley.

Ulimate Comics Spiderman- Bendis and David Lafuente continue to tell the best spiderman tales since the classic run done by stan and the old school boys. READ IT already.

Green Lantern universe stuff- Geoff johns is telling an epic tale here. lol i'm waiting for hal to combine all the rings into a new white lantern. lol kinda like in Ronin Warriors. Plus sinestro has flat out become one my favorite villains, next to Magneto and Black Adam. There's just something about a villain whose motivations are relatable. they're more like heroes who will kill to get there point across than just flat out evil and silly.

Naruto- yes i know it's cool to hate on Naruto now, but the story is still amazingly epic. and there's something to be said for a series thats 400+ chapters and still hooks millions of people.

Bleach- lol because it's pretty much been one long ass fight scene for the last 3 or so years. plus Aizen and Ichimaru are finally starting to show why they're badasses.

X-men- Cyclops leading the mutants to their own country is a good example of mainstream progression. Dude went from teen to mutant authority, usurping the title from Magneto and Proffesor X. lol and i know it's mainstream stuff so it won't last, it's only a matter of time before we're back in Westchester at the mansion, with prof x back in the wheel chair but i'm going to enjoy this while it lasts.

Video Game Demos

Seriously both the Brutal Legend and Lost Planet 2 demos have changed my life. plus final fantasy 13 is on the way, and well........

Friends

I'm super thankful for my friends from the close ones to the ones on the net. (that means you)

have a good one guys. :D

oh and this was totally inspired by John Tesh's awesome positive thinking radio show. one of the few that just wants to help you be a better healthier person and not trying to make you hate liberals/conservatives.
